Words from our Youth Chaplain

Rev. George Cherian

Dearly Friends,

Its summer and we are all excited about the various summer programs that await us. What seems impossible in winter seems possible in summer. The days are long and bright, grasses are green, flowers bloom and nature is filled with the sounds of the birds. Animals happily resume activity and nature feels ‘alive’ again.

Summer is the time for vacations, picnics, outdoor activities and social gatherings.

The Bible says “to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up (harvest) that which is planted; “

(Eccl. 3.1-4)

God has so arranged the seasons that things here in the earth and in our lives operate in seasons. We can depend on this because He tells us so in Genesis 8:22. The scripture reads...”While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest (seasons) and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.” We can gather from this scripture that seasons are basically divided into two types... seasons of seedtime (preparation) and seasons of harvest (reaping from what has been sown during the season of seed time).
Making the most of each season and doing the right things helps us to be productive and fruitful. A farmer is productive only when he properly goes through the seasons and does the right things like cultivating the soil, fertilizing it, planting the seed, watering it etc.

When the farmer operates within a season, things are set up to work with him to be productive. It’s the same with our lives. From our example we know that during a season, things around us are orchestrated in such a manner that our efforts are supported.

Making the best use of every season and opportunity makes life worth living. As we participate in the various events organized by the church and the youth fellowship, let it be a time to enrich ourself and build each other up so that we grow together.

Yours in His service

Rev. George Cherian
